Acupuncture for Infertility – how can this ancient medicine help you get pregnant?

a holistic approach to help people build their families

Acupuncture for Infertility – At Best Health Acupuncture & Wellness clinic, we have a clinical focus on treating infertility and have been working with families in the Vaughan community since 2011. We help individuals trying to conceive naturally on their own or with the support of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) such as Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) or In-vitro fertilization (IVF). We work alongside your reproductive endocrinologist and sync our acupuncture treatments to enhance your treatment plan from your fertility clinic.

What can I expect on my first visit?

Infertility looks so different for each individual and family that is going through it. There are so many different reasons people can have difficulty conceiving which is way it is extremely important to make sure that you have a custom diagnosis and holistic treatment plan to get the best results. Taking a cookie-cutter, protocol based approach will not be beneficial to anyone and will likely result in a lot of wasted time, money and emotional turmoil.

The advantage of using acupuncture for infertility is that we take the time to do a thorough intake and health history to determine your body constitution and the underlying causes for your infertility. Based on that we are able to come up with a Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis and carefully select the appropriate acupuncture points (your unique “point prescription”).

If you are conceiving on your own, we will track menstrual cycles and select the acupoints based on the phases of your cycle. If you are working with a fertility clinic and undergoing any ART procedures, we will work hand-in-hand with your clinic to compliment your treatment plan. We take a functional medicine approach and will review your ultrasounds, bloodwork, semen analysis, HSG etc and integrate those findings into our acupuncture treatment.

In addition to having a fertility-focused treatment, we will also look at your overall health and address any other issues you are experiencing such as poor sleep, migraines, digestive issues, anxiety, etc. The goal is to bring your body back to balance, so it can focus all of it’s resources on reproduction. The better your overall health is the more likely you are to conceive.

How Soon Should I Come For Treatment?

We typically recommend at least 3 months of pre-conception care to get the best results. The sooner you come for treatment the better. Treatments are generally twice per week initially, but may be more or less depending on our findings during your Initial Visit. We will continue to re-assess your progress and adjust the treatment frequency based on your response to treatment and any upcoming procedures such IUI, IVF retrievals or transfers.

*Please keep in mind the above recommendations are general and we will be able to make a more precise treatment plan after your Initial Visit.

If you have extended health benefits you may be able to submit your invoice for reimbursement. Please check your plan before coming to your appointment.
